Here it is, the last ski trip of the season

Snowshoe had an up and down season, with February seeing warm temperatures and rain, which spell doom for the snow that Snowshoe had spent so much time and effort building up during the cold but dry January. We were looking forward to Spring Break at the end of March, and started to consider going elsewhere for the week, but ultimately decided to head to Snowshoe, whether that meant skiing or mountain biking and hiking.

March showed up, and so did the snow. By the time we were heading out to WV, they had gotten about 8 feet of snow during the month of March. Our first two days of skiing were great, mid 30's, sunny, nice snow, with all the trails open. We hit them all, except for lower Shays which we heard was icy moguls, something that we could handle but not enjoy. The glades were even open, including Sawmill glades and Knot Bumper glades. They were both kind of thin, but the snow was nice depending on the time of day and the temps.

They held the annual pond skim on Lower Ballhooter. The kids had fun sliding down the closed trail on their stomachs.

Sawmill had some nice moguls that were a little icy sometimes, but softened up nicely.

Allie was on deer patrol:

The sunset was beautiful that night:

The trails were empty enough to get some speed and catch some air:

There were some massive icicles around the condo:

Then the rain came. The next two days were rainy, but we got out for a few hours each day. One night we got to go out for pizza with the Casey family, who were up for a few days as well. Lexi tried snowboarding for the second time, and did well enough to make it down Heisler Way and then we took Ballhooter back up. She was soaked in rain and sweat by the end, her butt hurt from falling and she was frustrated at the end. Near the bottom of the trail, she was on the ground, laying down, and started to yell, "I'M HAVING A HEART ATTACK!! I CAN'T BREATHE!!!" That happened one more time a few more feet down the trail, then she recovered and we made it to the lift.

We made time to make cookies while it rained.
